Hello everyone!

It is evident that we have passed October.... So what happened?

My senior year of college and internships have really taken the front-seat in my life, and creative endeavors have been put in the trunk.

This project, over the years, has really grown quite far outside of what was initially planned. But that's ok! I'm very happy with how it's coming together. And I think what the game has become is significantly more interesting than how it started. :)

We aim to release it in 2025.

Currently, the plan is to release the game on Newgrounds and Itch.io. I estimate that the playtime to finish the game will be 2+ hours. And very little of this time is waiting for fish haha. It's pretty fast paced, has some interesting things I don't want to spoil, and hopefully feels good to play.

Hello everyone!

As I mentioned in my last post a month ago, I am on schedule to finish the fishing game by the start of October!

We've finished all of the basic sprites and things are starting to really come together!

Over July I am going to finish most of the programming, and then August and September will be for polishing and finishing everything up.

As promised, here is a sneak peek into one of the screens:

Anyways, I'm looking forward to another productive month!

I probably won't give another screenshot update till next month, but we'll see. I don't want to give away too much before it's released.

As for any extra art, I might be picking up a full-time internship on top of my full-time summer courses... on top of coding for the fishing game... : ) ... 100 hour work weeks?

So I may not have time to do anything extra. But I will make another update soon about this.

Hello everyone!

While working on this game for the past months I've had a lot of help with making sprites and putting the game together in general. I don't think it would be possible without the help that I'm getting, so I'm very thankful. :)

The past few months have been spent on planning game mechanics, writing dialogue, storyboarding stuff, ironing out what all the numbers for things are going to be, it's a lot, but there was nothing that we couldn't handle!

Going forward, we have a schedule that has us set on finishing the game completely at the start of October. We are going to spend the next month finishing the rest of the assets, and then from July to September will be wrapping up the game and debugging.

During this whole process, I'm finishing my bachelors degree and my friend is working on his masters degree, so this game is on a pretty slow pace because it's just a fun little side thing I'm doing. But I am really really happy with the progress so far. :D

As for having image updates of what's going on, I'd like to show you guys but since we have mostly been working on the fish so far, I don't want to show the fish sprites- that's huge spoiler! :P

But by the end of June I will be able to share the finished backgrounds, and by August I'll be able to share some screencaps of some finished parts of the game.

Hello everyone!

I realize the game has been in development for over a year now! Gah!

The reason why the fishing game is not done yet is because I'm approaching the last quarter of my bachelor's degree... and subsequently the courses I'm taking are getting higher level. Regardless! I had a relatively productive spring break working on the game... but a thought came to my mind. Should I be posting progress?

All the art I'm doing is for the game, but I haven't been posting any as to not.. spoil it?

Personally, I don't like when devs post too much progress, because it's like you've already played the game before it releases.... But it's not my preference here.

Do you want me to post some of the art as it's being created? There are backgrounds... sprites... inventory sprites... larger drawings... characters... all sorts of things.

What do you guys think? Please let me know! If nothing else, I hope that this post helps to explain why I haven't been posting.

Also! It is not too far in development for you guys to have a catch-able fish included in the game in your honor. I haven't forgotten about the ones already requested! If you are interested, check out my earlier post for the details.

Regardless, thank you all for your patience! The lack of art has been because all of my effort is going towards coding and making art for the game.

The fishing game I'm working on is making really good progress!! I am hoping to finish it late this Summer or early in the Fall.

It's going to be a fun little fishing game... but... a fishing game needs fish!

Hello all! :D

I'm going to be doing something a little bit different for August.

I am not very good at making small, polished, projects in a short amount of time... my art tends to slowly get more complex the longer I look at it- so I am going to try to flex my simple-drawing muscles!!

Every day of August I will do a new drawing using the holiday calendar from nationaltoday.com.

Please forgive the sudden drop in "large" pieces, all of the August drawings will be 500x500 and very simple.

I hope you guys enjoy the upcoming wave of 31 small drawings! If you enjoy them let me know, and I may do this exercise again in the future. :D

I know it isn't anything special, but I am so happy to see that I've reached 10 followers! :)
